Structure Films— We are storytellers who make documentaries about some of the most fascinating and relevant personalities in science, health and technology. We are passionate about creating gripping, character-driven narratives, aspiring to nudge (if not change) the world for the better.

Our films have screened in major international festivals including South by Southwest, Hot Docs International, and London International Film Festival; broadcast on the BBC, PBS, TED, TIME, and Outside Magazine; and supported by the Sundance Institute, Tribeca Film Institute, ITVS and the MacArthur Foundation.

David Alvarado is an award-winning documentary filmmaker with a passion for science, philosophy, and human rights. After earning his B.A. in Film Production from the University of North Texas, he worked at Dallas PBS affiliate station KERA. He later earned his M.F.A. from Stanford University’s Documentary Film and Video Production program. Today he lives in New York where he founded Structure Films, a start-up documentary production company for stories about Science, Health and Technology.

Jason Sussberg is a documentary filmmaker focusing on the art and humanity in STEM. He is the co-director/producer of The Immortalists, which premiered at SXSW and screened at dozens of festivals across the world. Past life: motion graphic designer; sports TV producer with the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors; and community college film instructor. Present life: filmmaker at Structure Films and director/producer of the Bill Nye documentary.
